BACK TO DASHBOARD

Each year our tamariki participate in a wide range of sporting opportunities at West Gore School. We encourage our students to be involved in sports throughout the year. Being a member of a team is a great discipline and ties so well with our school values of Resilience, Respect and Responsibility. Our children love their sporting opportunities and we encourage them to have a go. Participation is the most important thing.

Volunteers are essential for our children to be offered sporting opportunities, and we appreciate all those that give up their time to coach/manage. We can't enter teams without these volunteers.

Below is a list of sports available and the teacher in charge. Sports registrations are posted on our school app and social media.

SPORTS INFO.

Code of Conduct
When you are signing your child up to a team, you are acknowledging that they will be representing West Gore School in our community and therefore our school values are expected to be displayed. It is important that the students as well as the parents demonstrate respect and sportsmanship as players and spectators.

All our parents that help out are volunteers and in many cases, do not have a high skill level in the sport they are coaching. We celebrate parents offering to take on these roles because they enable all children to participate and have fun. Please support these parents by helping out where you can and encouraging them as well.
Registering to Play
Most sports are now requiring online registration and our registrations will be online too. Sporting opportunities will be informed through the school newsletter and our school app. On the school app, make sure you check your settings and you are signed up to receive sports notices. Once you have registered your child for a sport, all information will be communicated through emails and online.
Commitment to a Team & Payment
Please ensure you are taking responsibility by reading information and registering on time. We would appreciate not having to chase people up. You must complete registration forms by the deadline. Payment must be made before the sport starts. Once your child is registered, you must pay their sub even if they pull out, as the school still gets charged. Please think carefully before registering your child. We don’t want to have children being pulled out of teams at the last minute. Your help with this is appreciated, as it is a time consuming job placing children into teams and timeframes are often short. Payment ensures inclusion in a team. Please contact myself or Linda if circumstances do not allow payment to be made in the required timeframe.
