Our PrincipalThank you for taking the time to learn more about West Gore School.
The process of finding the right school for your child can be overwhelming. I know that, as a parent, it’s important to ensure that you have all of the knowledge you need to make the right decision. That’s why we take the time to meet with every prospective family individually. This means we can to get to know you, and show you some the wonderful things that make West Gore School special. It’s important to us to gain an understanding of your expectations and to begin building a relationship. Our parents tell us that this one-on-one meeting provides an opportunity for them to experience our innovative approach to education and to get a feel for the school. Meeting times are flexible and provide you with an opportunity to ask questions, see teaching and learning in action, and meet our staff. It would be a pleasure to welcome you into our school and I look forward to making the connection. Linda Fraser Principal |

Cultural DiversityOur values and beliefs reflect our understanding of the impact of culture on who we are and how we operate. We utilise the resources in our area such as the marae, museum, Hokonui Heritage Park, and Eastern Southland Art Gallery to strengthen our understandings. With 18% of our students identifying as Māori, and students of a wide variety of nationalities, we ensure our students are given the opportunity to recognise and realise their own cultural distinctiveness and potential. Te Reo Māori is integrated into classroom programmes and our Kapahaka group, led by staff and community members, has a strong sense of mana. |
